EPA, the voice of parents for all children in Europe. EPA gathers the parents' associations in Europe and represents more than 100 million parents.
In the field of education, EPA aims to: - promote the active participation of parents - be the voice of parents in the elaboration of European decisions.
EPA's missions:
To work in partnership with other educators in creating an educational community of parents throughout Europe. To give a strong voice to parents in the development of all educational policies and decisions at European level.

To pursue education policies at European level which will bring the highest possible quality of education for all our children; To use the influence of EPA to promote the active participation of parents at all levels of education throughout Europe; To work to support strong partnerships in education throughout Europe through the sharing of good practice and by promoting dialogue among the parents of Europe.

The Commission of the European Union provides financial support for EPA.
THE WORK OF EPA
The Paper of Principles sets out those principles which should shape the role of parent organisations within the education system at local, national and European level.
EPA's Charter of Rights and Responsibilities of Parents in Europe sets out its strong philosophy and expectations for the role of parents in their children's education.
These key documents are the framework for our Policy Plan, which charts the development of EPA's involvement and actions in the field of education.
Representation:
EPA works to influence decisions on Education policy at European level. EPA has official consultative status with the Council of Europe. EPA forges strong links and holds regular meetings with the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Presidents of Council of Ministers and the Ministers for Education. EPA builds communication with such influential European agencies as OECD, UNESCO and our partners in education - teachers, students, governors, researchers. EPA prepares policy papers and submissions on all important education policy issues and European programme proposals.
Services and support for parent partnership
EPA supports excellence in parent partnership and participation in education by: - gathering and disseminatings information in EPA publications such as EPA- INFO, newsletters, seminar reports. - highlighting innovation in educational partnership and spreading knowledge about best practice through the Alcuin Award, which recognises excellent examples of parents' participation in education. - enabling parents and pupils to share their experiences through exchanges, study visits, seminars and colloquia - promoting good practice in the training of parents, through practical initiatives, such as Summer courses and training seminars - supporting research into all aspects of parent participation and partnership
